WBZ-TV News Update For August 25, 2017

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US. I AM BREANNA PITTS WITH A WBZ NEWS UPDATE. A CAR SPLIT IN HALF IN A SERIOUS CRASH IN RUTLAND. TWO CARS WERE INVOLVED IN THE CRASH ON ROUTE 122 LAST NIGHT BOTH DRIVERS WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. POLICE SAY THAT ONE OF THEM HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH DRUNK DRIVING. INDUSTRY IN TAUNTON. INVESTIGATORS ARE DIGGING IN THE FRONT YARD OF A HOME FOR HOURS. THIS WAS THE CORNER OF BRIAN DRIVE AND ASHLEY TERRACE YESTERDAY. THE D.A. OFFICE WOULD ONLY SAY THAT THIS IS PART OF AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION BUT THE TAUNTON GAZETTE SAYS THE BROTHER-IN-LAW OF DEBBIE MELLO WAS SPOTTED AT THE SCENE, SPARKING MANY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE CONNECTED TO THAT COLD CASE. MELLO DISAPPEARED 17 YEARS AGO. ASHLAND POLICE ARE ISSUING A WARNING AFTER A BEAR WAS SPOTTED IN THE BACKYARD. A RESIDENT TOOK THIS PICTURE OUTSIDE OF HIS HOME ON SHORE ROAD. POLICE ARE URGING PEOPLE TO REMOVE BIRDFEEDERS AND TRASH THAT COULD ATTRACT BEARS AND TO CHECK BEFORE LETTING DOGS OUT. LET’S SEND THINGS OVER TO PAMELA GARDNER WITH A LOOK AT THE FORECAST. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING. IT LOOKS LIKE A GORGEOUS FORECAST FOR US THIS AFTERNOON. WE HAVE A VERY WEAK SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH. THAT SYSTEM WILL BE — BRING A CHANCE FOR CLOUDS AND A BRIEF SPRINKLE OR SPOTTY SHOWER THROUGHOUT THE EVENING. TEMPERATURES ARE THE LOW AND MID 70s. THE SEABREEZE KICKS IN ALONG THE COAST. THIS EVENING, WE DRY THINGS OFF THE COOL THINGS DOWN. LOW 60s BUT OVERNIGHT LOWS ARE IN THE 50s. LOW 50s IN THE SUBURBS AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF WE SAW READINGS IN THE UPPER 40s TO START OFF SATURDAY. THE WEEKEND FORECAST IS LOOKING JUST AS NICE WITH MORE SUNSHINE ON SATURDAY. 76. SUNDAY IS 73, STAYING COOL. THE FALL WEATHER CONTINUES FOR THE START TO NEXT WEEK. I AM BREANNA PITTS AND THIS HAS BEEN A WBZ NEWS UPDATE.
