RACHEL MADDOW’S RATINGS GO FROM BAD TO WORSE WHILE FOX NEWS CONTINUES TO DOMINATE

Once again, Fox News boasts the top three
highest-rated cable news shows for 2019’s third quarter, while MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow
suffered the worst quarter numbers in years, according to The Daily Caller News Foundation
who reported Nielsen Media Research’s viewing statistics. “Sean Hannity had the highest-rated news
show for the third quarter, averaging 3,276,000 viewers, followed by Tucker Carlson with 3,082,000
viewers, Laura Ingraham with 2,629,000 viewers, and finally Rachel Maddow who averaged 2,518,000
viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research,” DCNF reported. “It was Maddow’s lowest-rated
quarter since the second quarter of 2016.” Maddow saw a slightly better than average
September versus the rest of the quarter bringing in 2,688,000 viewers during the past month
and finishing third place behind Hannity and Carlson, respectively. While September might have brought slight
reprieve for Maddow, her August audience shrunk considerably, according to The Daily Caller. Fox News appears to have maintained it’s
lead in each of the top spots in the cable news ratings, and “The Rachel Maddow Show”
reportedly placed fifth in cable news behind “Hannity,” “Tucker Carlson Tonight,”
“The Ingraham Angle,” and “The Five,” According to the Daily Caller, August was
the second month in a row that Fox News has held the top four highest-rated cable news
programs. “Maddow’s show averaged 2,327,000 total
viewers in the month of August, with 361,00 coming in the crucial 25-54 age demographics,
according to Nielsen Media Research,” the Daily Caller reported. “Those numbers are
down from July when Maddow averaged 2,487,000 per night, and 384,000 in the 25-54 demographic.” Additionally, it was the second month in a
row that Maddow missed the top three rating spot, which she used to consistently hold
until late in 2018. “Hannity led cable news, averaging 3,269,000
viewers a night, with 519,000 in the 25-54 demographic, while Carlson placed second,
averaging 3,107,000 total viewers, including 500,000 in the 25-54 demographic,” the Daily
Caller reported.
