In order to remain economically
successful and competitive in the future processes have to be made more flexible
and digital. This requires not only a huge amount of data but also the
intelligent use and distribution of this data. Today’s networks are not designed
for this and have to adapt to the new requirements. Everything has to
communicate with everything. Sensors, actuators and switches have to be efficiently implemented into communication architecture. Single Pair Ethernet enables space-saving and cost efficient Ethernet cabling for seamless
communication to the last mile. APL adds a standard that removes further
barriers for process automation. So 5G will give us extremely high
bandwidth, ultra reliable low latency communication and an extremely high
density of notes. But there is not a single application that needs everything.
So this is why I believe that 5G will become the new communication backbone. The wireless communication backbone in industrial automation. Especially
because we can get private networks in the future. With TSM 5G and Single Pair Ethernet new technologies on the level
of the physical interfaces are coming but that is not enough. What we need is a
unified communication language, communication protocol and there OPC UA with its field level communication. Initiative will play an important role
