I was close!”
It looks like J.Lo could be making her box office comeback with her latest film, ‘Hustlers’!
The female-ensemble picture starring Jennifer Lopez is tracking to gross $25 million in
its domestic debut which would be a career best for the actress/singer. The critically
acclaimed film is based on a 2015 ‘New York Magazine’ article about a group of strippers
who team up to con wealthy men in order to survive the Great Recession. The flick,
which was particularly praised for Lopez’s performance, had its world premiere at the
Toronto Film Festival earlier this month. The actress has also been receiving early
Oscar buzz for her role. The actress’ last career high for a live action opening was
‘Monster-in-Law,’ which was released more than a decade ago in 2005 and earned
$23.1 million. ‘Hustlers,’ which also stars Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart,
and Cardi B, among other big names, opens everywhere Friday and currently boasts
a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
