Cyberpunk 2077 News – CDPR Switching To Remote Work & Lore Book Update!

What is going on Neon Nation welcome back
to The Neon Arcade for some more Cyberpunk 2077 News. In todays episode we have a colorful new image
from CD PROJEKT RED in celebration of a Japanese holiday, an interview with Mike Pondsmith
dissecting the Cyberpunk IP, statements from CDPR about the state of the world, how they
are handling things and delays, some new Cyberpunk 2077 merch and an update on the release date
of a Cyberpunk lore book. First off, we have a brand-new image of a
character using what again appears to be a Braindance headset. Now we saw the female variant a while ago,
but this was tweeted out by CDPR Japan in celebration of what seems to be white valentines’
day. This character is bursting with color and
some interesting hair, and many have likened him to this Ekko skin from League of Legends. Definitely strikes me as a similar Asian looking
character to this one from the Style over substance poster, and if this is indicative
of the character customization options, I know a lot of people will be happy. Gotta love the retro-futuristic clothing choices
as well. Next, we have a statement from CDPR regarding
changes they are making while in the final stretch of development for Cyberpunk 2077
based on current events. It reads as follows – “Dear all, many
of you are probably wondering how things are at CD PROJEKT RED and how current events influences
our day to day operations. Here’s a short update. Over the past week, we have been adapting
to the situation and gradually rolling out preventative measures across our entire organization. We’ve also been upgrading equipment and
infrastructure and working towards enabling our employees to work remotely, from the safety
of their homes. Today, as a result of that preparation, CD
PROJEKT Red switched to FULL remote work for as long as needed. We think this will grant every team member
the highest level of personal health safety. And while this all is a bit new to everyone,
we are rising to the challenge and showing no signs of stopping in our effort to bring
you some kick-ass role-playing action in September! Stay safe, everyone! For fans this is great news, as there were
some worries that this disruption would invariably lead to a second delay. Now although that’s not out of the realm
of possibility, REDs have been praising IT and logistics teams for their preparedness
in getting everyone set up at home, and from what I’ve been seeing maybe a cozy home
environment is a nice change of pace. I know for me personally, its incredibly hard
to stay focused at home, but I have no doubt that these guys will be killing it wherever
they are. Moving on we have updates about the World
of Cyberpunk 2077 lore book from Dark Horse. In previous videos we mentioned that the date
of the release of this book would likely change to after the release date of Cyberpunk 2077. Dark horse however has swooped in to reinforce
that the initial date of release of these is not going to be pushed back, assuming no
supply chain interruption. This has me a little torn as I’m pretty
sure a lengthy lore book is going to spoil at least some of the world before actually
playing it, although knowing me I’ll probably exhibit 0 self-control and read the thing
cover to cover as soon as I get it. If you have ordered this book, or are planning
to get it, its something to think about. We also have a 2077 Comic Book which was hinted
at a while back, featuring the writing of some of the devs on the actual CDPR team. We get a brief glimpse at the pages, and maybe
something story related but it’s really hard to tell what’s going on here. If you have any theories let me know. We also have a keynote speech with the creator
of Cyberpunk 2013, 2020 and Red where he breaks down IP’s and their fluidity in becoming
any type of media. He dissects what kinds of traits an intellectual
property needs and how these needs transform from books to movies to video games to tabletop
rpgs and it’s an overall super interesting talk if you are into the design of media. He makes mention that Cyberpunk had been licensed
before, but CDPR is doing what he deems as the most successful licensing attempt with
an entry into video games and that Silverhand was designed to be a character who can be
on the silver screen, in games or in books, an example of what makes the Cyberpunk IP
more potent. He also talks about the Witcher games and
their Netflix adaptations, and again it’s a talk worth watching so I’ll link that
in the pinned comment and description for you guys. Finally, we have a collaboration between Doughnut
Backpacks and CDPR for this beast right here. Gotta say it’s a pretty snazzy looking backpack,
but dear lord that price tag. Not going to lie, I’m a fan of most of the
items Cyberpunk related so far that we’ve seen, and this is one of them, but I’ll
take a hard pass based off that price, which if you think about it is more than the game
itself. Thanks for watching guys, please stay safe,
and for more Cyberpunk join Neon Nation by subscribing to The Neon Arcade.

  2. I imagine the World of Cyberpunk book might be more what changed since 2020 and Red. And maybe bits about gangs, corporations, setting of the world and few other things. As for spoiling the story I imagine might spoil small bits and won’t talk about the main story.

  3. I personally don’t think it will be delayed again due to a cure already in the process of being made and this game is technically finished just polishing

  4. Makes me sad to think that some people who were waiting for Cyberpunk are already dead, at this point my only goal is to survive long enough to play this game. Please guys, stay safe.

  5. It wont make a negative impact at all if they work from home. All the MoCap and live animation is finished (im assuming since the game releases in September) and anything else they are working on is probably just bug fixing, asset placement or level design, all of which can be completed at home.

  6. Pre-Ordered the Collector's Edition. Am so glad CD Projekt Red, released a collector's version in India unlike others.

  7. I recently rewatched blade runner blackout anime, now when the game comes out I'm going to try my best to make my character look like Iggy

  8. Well the game is finished, but i guess what you wanted to say was that they're going to fix any bugs that might appear

  9. Well I'm booked in for my 2 weeks off work for cyberpunk, so I really hope for no more delays because I dont want to have to sidle up to my boss again and go 'SO…. It's been delayed again, can we shuffle that holiday onward..?'

  10. "White Valentine's Day"? Come on, now. It's just White Day. On topic, though, I'm glad CDPR isn't taking any unnecessary risks to get Cyberpunk 2077 out! Here's hoping that we're still going to stay on track for the release since they've switched to remote work. That, combined with the fact they're focused on polishing instead of adding new content means that a delay may be only a small chance.

  11. I mean reading the lore book before you play the game will only increase immersion. You're character has been living in this world his whole life right? It would make sense for him to know the lore of the world he's living in lmao

  12. Good video as always. I'm no industry expert so I may be wildly off the mark so anyone that actually knows what they're talking about feel free to correct me.

They already sent it off to age rating agencies right? That means the game is probably done content wise. Assuming that's the case then all they're doing is polishing and bug fixes which I can't imagine would be much different doing from home than at the studio.

Also, iirc they stated that they don't even need the full delay, it's just that September was the next viable release window. Now while you can say that was just PR speak I prefer to not be that cynical until an entity has earned it. All in all, while a delay is always a possibility I don't think we should expect it.

  13. Neon how just how do you not have over a million subs yet dude honestly man oh and a question when if you do are you going to make a video of alt cunningham

  14. I appreciate that your videos don't have 5 minutes of "Hit like and subscribe!" and "lemme tell you about this product" just to get to 10 minutes.

  15. Well on the good side they’ve said it won’t be delayed again so September i may even get to play it depends on the virus and if I can go to Florida

  16. Who else thinks that the top 100 ps4 games that will be backwards compatible should be voted on by the public I mean they have fucking fifa 16 in the top 10 last time u played that game?

  17. Do whatever it takes to get er done CDPR😊😊

I just hope that Cyberpunk 2077 isn't delayed again because of this virus. I'm upgrading my pc this summer specifically for this baby.

  18. I'm so happy CD Projeckt read is putting their employees safety first. Also great to hear that they can still work on the project from the safety of home.

  19. Personally I want the lore book asap. I dont know enough about the world let alone terminology used in the world. When I play I dont wanna be confused or anything.

  20. Deadass Bro, I saw that backpack and was all the way in until I saw that price tag. Cant say that thing is clean though. Ultimate pimp swag

  21. It’s not the end of the road, thank god software likes Discord exists so they can still chat with coworkers. Corona virus hasn’t found a way to defeat that yet

  22. Awesome video, Neon!

You cleared some stuff up for me in regards to the World of Cyberpunk 2077 book. I am still excited for it, though!

I'm also excited for Cyberpunk 2077: Afterlife card game. Hope the card game is as cool as it sounds, and it seems to be promising since it is a CMON release… 🤞

See yous all in Night City sorta real soon, Choombas! Peace! I'm Chippin' Out!

  23. I live in California and school is cancelled until may 4th and if cp2077 wasnt pushed back, i cud of been playing that all day, i fucking hate this

  24. I was worried about current situation in europe is quiet worrisom. So i thought will be there any affects on development on this game.

But turns out to be quite an nice news for both cdpr and people here waiting. 🙂
Thank you for bring this news Neon!

  25. This game is and has been finish since January they just pushed the date because they wanted to protect their sales from the corona virus

  26. Corona Virus is a hoax for dumb scared gullible sheep. Who needs prison camps with a populous this dumb? You all just imprison yourselves.

  27. Everyone look at the virus in the bright side!
Although yes, it's fucking with our favorite game devs and potentially force cancel a bunch of other projects from other devs and even delay the next gen consoles (ps5 and series x)
When it's all over, I'm sure most countries with shitty healthcare will realize how much good a good health care system can do.
And this could be a turning point in humanity! New environmental laws and protection programs, more and better recycling systems to be put in place and better conservation of world resources! As well as better infrastructure and a better economy!

  28. I really doubt the game isn’t getting delayed, the impact of this whole thing will be felt for years and I doubt they can be nearly as productive when all separated especially just moral.

  29. Hey Neon Arcade I heard that after Cyberpunk 2077 is released that they will turn their full attention to the new witcher game? Do you have Any more speculation on it? Also great quality video like always! You are my go to when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077 news.

  30. This game Isn't out yet? I'm not gonna buy it anymore, i've been waiting for years. The more i look at the game, the more boring it looks

  31. I've been on the fence about what platform to get cyberpunk on: my current ps4, get a used ps4 pro, wait until next gen and go with Series X, save up for an RTX capable PC… Today all my concerns were laid to rest by CDPR when they gave away 23 games so people would stay at home during the quarantine. I promptly claimed the free games and immediately proceeded to buy Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG as a way of saying thank you. I dont own a PC capable of playing this game, I may not be able to play it at all or may need to buy it again on another platform, but I think that is a risk worth running. Some companies just know how to earn trust.

  32. You lost a customer because of pushing the date to September. No thanks. I no longer want to play your pathetic game not even In 2077.

  33. Dude that is a normal price on a bag like that. Non hype brands would probly sell that for 50 to 70 buck but bk of the brand and product display on the bag that is very reasonable. I mean take supreme for example if they made a bag like that with nothing even big branding on it. It would b selling for $200plus and with big branding on it 300to400 just for a damn bag and that wouldn't come close to looking as good as this one!!! FYI.
